Hays GaleriaWalk 1 looks at Tower Bridge and visit to City Hall in Southwark

After the visit we come to the magnificent Hays Galeria, once historical Docks and warehouses. Here we stop for lunch.

After lunch we continue the relaxed walk along by the river taking in some of the sights across the Thames of the City until we reach London Bridge. The Walk looks at Southwark Cathedral, the Clink Prison, Winchester House and passes the Museum of Wine Vinopolis. The walk will finish with a pre-booked tea at The Anchor Inn.

The Globe TheatreWalk 2 takes in some of the ancient Guilds of the City as we walk towards Southwark Bridge. From here we get a good view of Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre and the popular Tate Modern across in Bankside. We also look at the historical Saxon foreshore of Queenhithe and the importance of the year 886AD to the abandoned Roman City of London. Queenhithe is so ancient that not even the archaelogists are allowed to touch it!

Before crossing Southwark Bridge into Bankside, we get the chance to see the Livery Hall of the Vintners Company, find out a little about these ancient Guilds and their relevance in today’s world. Sir Christopher Wren was commissioned to build 51 City churches after the Great Fire of London in 1666, and we shall look at the church of St James’s Garlickhythe with its beautiful steeple and its links to the Vintners.
